Our 1st Day of Summer Vacation

This is the way they wheeled him out of 7 peaks. There were quite a few gawkers wondering what happened that he was all bandaged up like this.

Putting all 9 sutures in place. They are actually quite nice looking. To bad they'll only be in for 5 days. He won't be able to show them off at church.

Being such a beautiful day, I told Vince to take Eric and the boys over to 7 peaks to get their season passes and to swim awhile to wear them out. I got there after work and kept Simon busy while everyone else swam. Vince was trying to dry off so he could get ready to go to the hospital to see his mom (she has her 2nd hip surgery on Tuesday morning) and give her a blessing at 7:30. It was just before 7:00 when Tomie came up to us and said Daniel hurt himself and that the lifeguards were taking care of him. I had Vince meet up with them and found that our son had seen a pool light that had been placed on the deck and he was using the still connected cord to climb on. It proceeded to fall on his head the result was closing the wave pool for the rest of the day - blood everywhere and you don't want possible bloodborne pathogens to ruin the rest of the patrons' day. So, they said he would need stitches and their insurance would pick up the tab.

I found Eric and had him take our truck home, we dropped Daniel off at Karen's and headed to the ER after bribing him with a blue slush from Sonic. We had neighbors in the ER too, their 5 year old daughter got bit on the eye by the neighbor's dog. Vince had them entertained by watching his iphone - he downloaded 9 episodes of Wonder Pets. They tried to get Daniel to calm down enough to get the stitches in (but if you know him and slivers or any other small injury, this was not going to work)

They gave him a shot and within seconds he was hallucinating and finally out. The dr. did a great job of sewing him up. They only want to keep the stitches in for 5 days - any longer and they said it could cause worse scaring. He was still out of it when we brought him home, but at least the worst part is over.

I have been waiting with fear for this kid to break a bone or need stitches, I just thought it would be more adventuresome than a light falling on his head.
