My grandmother was named Iris and every year for her birthday or mother's day, I would draw her an iris. My mom said her grandma used to give her daffodils for her birthday. So, here come the daffodils and the iris. The daffodils are long gone, but my iris are just starting to spread thru the tiny area between the chain link fence and the sidewalk. I am partial to the deep purple iris, even though they have so many colors now, I could have my pick. Grandma and I used to go to Jean's house and pick dozens or iris and then place them on the graves of our loved ones. Maybe that's why I love iris so much is that they give me a connection to my grandma.
