The week in review

For the past few weeks at work we have been dealing with a cryptosporidium outbreak throughout the Wasatch Front and we have had to field thousands of calls a day. The State decided Tuesday to mandate a no swim rule for those under 5 and/or diaper wearers along with a high chlorine treatment of all pools. Talk about irate people! I was just glad when Friday evening rolled around and I just had to deal with the issues at home.

Daniel had his first SEP. His teachers love him and say he is ahead in his reading skills and right on task with everything else. Yeah! Now let's hope it stays that way the rest of the school year.

He has been showing his imagination lately. One night he taped a huge knitting needle to the crotch of his shorts so he could be a bumble bee. Then he has learned to balance a spoon on his nose. Today as we were leaving church, he gave me a note that said "Dear Tooth Fairy, will you please give me Ice Powers?" He wants to freeze his friend so he can't go anywhere. I asked him if he thought the tooth fairy could give anything but money, and he said why not?

Our ward had their annual campout Friday night up Hobblecreek Canyon. We took the dog and our trailer and had a wonderful time, even though Daniel disappeared after dark and we had to have 1/2 the campers looking for him. (He was at the next campground at their swings -he didn't know we had our own)

Vince's dad is not doing too well. Vince says he looks like a holocaust survivor. He hasn't eaten anything substantial since last Tuesday. One hospice worker thought he had about 2 weeks, but the one who came today to check his vitals, said to stop giving him his medications and that he had just over 48 hours. He does take in liquid on those sponge pops, buts that's about it. They have also suggested to leave him in bed and not make him use all his energy to get up. All the kids were there after church today and John and Vince gave his parents blessings. I've also started writing the obituary. Dorthella doesn't want anything verbose, so I was the best choice.
